Newsgroups are used to discuss a huge range of topics, make announcements, and trade files. Discussions are threaded, or grouped in a way that allows you to read a posted message and all of its replies in chronological order. This makes it easy to follow the thread of the conversation, and to see what’s already been said before you post your own reply or make a new posting. Newsgroup content is distributed by servers hosted by various organizations on the Internet. Messages are exchanged and managed using open- standard protocols. No single entity “owns” the newsgroups. Bereft of his friends, memories and purpose, Starkiller is left with questions and he goes on a rampage to find people who can help him. Now, with 1. 00% more lightsaber and 4. A video game sequel traditionally follows a particular pattern: More of that and then some. Not The Force Unleashed II. This game is much less than its predecessor. It is shorter, less interesting in terms of plot and story. Barely changes up its gameplay formula and feels generally cheaply made. Dissapointing is the core word used to describe the overal impression of The Force Unleashed II's content and gameplay. The original had issues, but instead of addressing them, the sequel just kept a lot of them in there and added some more. In this installment, we find a clone of the original Starkiller in Vader's service. Vader has managed to clone a jedi; something thought to be impossible. However, most clones succumb to madness from residual memories from their original self. Hellbent to not fall to insanity, Starkiller escapes to find the only two people in the galaxy left alive who can tell him who he is: General Kota, and his former love: Juno Eclipse. Starkiller hops between a few planets and even visits Yoda before finding his way back to Kamino to end up right where a started.. The very premise of the story, Starkiller's amnesia, is a massive turn- off. Where before the story involved intrigue, betrayal and rebellion; it now merely rests on goose chases and damsels in distress. A notable improvement though is Starkiller's broadened emotional spectrum. Instead of mysterious and angry, he can now express sadness, sarcasm and joy, as well as a range of angers such as irate, furious, enraged and vengeful. A nice change up, but it is too little and too late. By the time you witness the juicy plot twist, the game ends. To be honest, when I started the game I was biased against it. I had played it before on the PS3 and was sorely dissapointed in it. However, when I was making my way through the first few stages I noticed that the environments were signficantly more detailed, the physics worked better and the different levels of force powers were more defined. So the noticable improvements to gameplay and presentations are noticable from the start, and they capture you. John Williams' inspired score accentuates the action at the right moments and the voice acting is more convincing because the actors are a little bit more acqainted with their roles. However, the sound editing is spotty. Certain effects, such as Vader's breathing is superimposed over the score, making it an awkward ambient sound. Additionally, some hit effects were just cheaply taken from the stock sound pack and sound horribly out of place. While I was seriously considering forgiving the game for many of its flaws I couldn't overlook the glaring instability of the game. The game crashed on me more times than I care to count. Either during gameplay, or during loading. Regardless of the moment of the crash, the game would send me back to the beginning of the stage and let me do the whole thing all over again. Annoying, and sometimes infuriating, as some segments are not particularly enjoyable. The gameplay follows the same standard as the original; combat sections and the occasional force puzzle with some platforming. It is a tested formula; God of War has thrived on it. However, The Force Unleashed II lacks the variation and excitement. The sequel introduces many new enemy types that require a more distinct approch as opposed to simply slashing and shocking it, but once you find that shocking and grabbing is just as effective you quickly make short work of enemies that were supposed to make life hard for you. Boss fights do not fare much better. Mindlessly hacking away at them is the preferred method of dealing with them. When you're not hacking though, the game will simply let the cutscenes handle the action and force you to either press buttons on prompt or simply witness awesome stuff that you are not doing yourself. This becomes glaringly obvious toward the end where set- pieces, corridors, bosses and cutscenes appear back to back. The final boss, Vader (screw your spoilers, you saw this coming) is a joke on many levels. Not only is he a complete pushover, he is also not even remotely like Vader. This is purely speaking as an invested Star Wars fan, but the final boss fight just rains on the entire parade. When the credits roll after a measly four hours you can really feel the bad taste in the back of the mouth. It is polished in appearance, but the content was cut; cut with a cleaver and left on the side because there was not enough time to fully finish it. Particularly the Dagobah stage shows signs of time constraint. Star Wars Battlefront puts you in the heat of the action as you relive all of the intense battles from the classic. Couple that with the crashes and the lack of DLC and you have a game that cannot justify its pricepoint outside of a sale. I can't reccomend it and I would even go as far as to completely dissuade Star Wars fans to play it, because it does such a poor job with Vader that it makes his appearance in Revenge of the Sith acceptable. In retrospect, I'm happy that I cancelled my pre- order all those years ago. A strong sign of the force. A sign that the force is weak with The Force Unleashed II. Home Sleep Test. Home Sleep Test. The Journal of Global Business Management Volume 11* Number 1 * April 2015 Issue 47 The Communication of Value Proposition: Case Studies on Franchise Business Model. 1.0 Executive Summary. The Russet Cup will be a one of a kind coffee house / caf Franchise Your Business in 7 Steps - Successful Franchisor. Franchising your business is a proven route to rapid growth. But becoming a franchisor is not an automatic ticket to success, especially in this challenging economy. In January, for instance, three established franchisors filed for bankruptcy protection: Taco Del Mar Franchising Corp., Uno Restaurant Holdings Corp., and Daphne's Greek Caf. When the right concept is franchised effectively, it can be a great expansion strategy that doesn't require as much up- front capital as growing through company- owned units. If you're considering franchising your business, know that the process of becoming a franchisor is usually long and involves considerable cost. Just because you qualify to sell franchises doesn't mean you will find buyers. Data from the International Franchise Association shows that of the 1. Becoming a successful new franchisor entails making many thoughtful decisions early on that will affect your business for years to come. There's also a lot of legal paperwork to wade through to make sure your business complies with federal and state laws that regulate the franchise industry. Here's our guide to the important steps you'll need to take along the road to becoming a new franchisor. Step One: Evaluate if Your Business is Ready. The first question to ask is whether your business is suited to being franchised. Beyond having a track record of sales and profitability at the existing business, there's several factors to weigh here, says Mark Siebert, CEO of the national franchise- consulting firm i. Franchise Group. Consider your concept. Most good franchise concepts, he says, offer something familiar, but with some unique twist to it. A good example is Florida- based Pizza Fusion which offers a familiar product- -pizza- -but with all- organic ingredients, delivered in hybrid- electric cars. The concept has to appeal both to end consumers and to prospective franchisees. There should be an expectation that more units will create economies of scale and increase profits. Additionally, the business needs to be something you can systematize and replicate, not something that needs your personal touch to be successful. Does it provide good returns? Check your financials. Most successful franchises take a business that's already profitable and try to replicate that success in other locales. Cleveland- based franchise consultant Joel Libava says he likes to see companies with at least a couple of profitable units beyond the first one already in operation before a company tries franchising. Gather market research to confirm there is widespread consumer demand beyond your home city for what your franchise business would offer, and room in the marketplace for a new competitor. Free download McDonald's Business Model Canvas. The Business Model Canvas of McDonald’s can be described as follows: McDonald’s is famous for its value. Franchising is the practice of the right to use a firm's business model and brand for a prescribed period of time. The word 'franchise' is of Anglo-French derivation. Prepare for change. Becoming a franchisor means you'll be engaged in entirely different activities than you were as a business owner. You'll primarily be selling franchises and supporting franchisees now, instead of selling pizza or fixing toilets. Depending on your situation slower growth, finding debt financing or taking on partners are all alternatives that may prove better ways to move forward. It also can cost $1. Remember that while franchising allows you to grow fast, it also means giving up most of the franchise units' future profits, Shay says. Step Two: Learn the Legal Requirements. In order to legally sell franchises anywhere in the United States, your business must complete and successfully register a Franchise Disclosure Document with the Federal Trade Commission . In the FDD, you'll be asked to provide a wide range of information about your business, including audited financial statements, an operating manual for franchisees, and descriptions of the management team's business experience. Beyond the federal FDD requirements, some states have their own rules for selling franchises within their borders. California and Illinois are generally regarded as having the most daunting registration process, says Libava. If you want to sell in one of these states, you'll need to meet their requirements as well, at additional cost. Franchisor Cindy Deuser, 5. Lillians Shoppes, says the rule binder her home state of Minnesota provided was two inches thick. It took the bargain- fashion- accessory company a full year and cost more than $1. Often, a new company will be set up to act as the franchisor. Find an expert who can make sure you're doing every required step correctly. Step Three: Make Important Decisions About Your Model. As you prepare your legal paperwork, you'll need to make many decisions about how you'll operate as a franchisor. Key points include: The franchise fee and royalty percentage. The term of your franchise agreement. The size territory you will award each franchisee. What geographic area you are willing to offer franchises within. The type and length of training program you will offer. Whether franchisees must buy products or equipment from your company. The business experience and net worth franchisees need. How you will market the franchises. Whether you want an owner- operator for each unit or area/master franchisees who will develop multiple units. New franchisors don't realize how much each of these decisions can affect their future profitability, says Siebert. And you've signed a 1. They seem to have hit a winning formula- -Lillians has grown to 3. Be careful to note whether geographic variables such as weather or local laws may affect franchisees' success. Territory size is important too, as too- large territories may have to be bought back later at a premium so they can be split up, notes IFA's Shay. In the case of San Francisco Bay- area solar- panel installation franchisor Solar Universe, the company is selling franchises in concentric circles moving outward from its headquarters, mostly in warm- weather states with high electricity costs and generous state green- energy rebates, says founder Joe Bono, 3. Solar Universe has sold 1. January 2. 00. 8. Inadequate training can leave your franchisees ill- equipped to implement your system successfully. Solar Universe spent nearly $1 million preparing to franchise, Bono says, including $1. Step Four: Create Needed Paperwork and Register as a Franchisor. Once you've made the important decisions that shape how your franchise will operate, you're ready to complete your legal paperwork. When you submit it, be prepared for authorities to critique the document and possibly demand additional disclosures before they approve your application. While the FTC essentially just files your FDD away, you'll need to wait state approval. Bono reports Solar Universe waited several months to receive comments back from the state of California on its filing, and it took four months in all to get approved there. Step Five: Make Key Hires. As you prepare to become a franchisor, you'll usually need to add several staff members who will focus solely on helping franchisees. In the case of Solar Universe, the company sells its franchisees the solar panels they use, so founder Bono says he needed a full- time hire to staff the order desk. The company also hired a trainer and a full- time . Lillians now has a full- time staff of seven. The founding sisters still do all the buying for the growing chain, but Deuser says growth means they are already looking into hiring a second trainer. Step Six: Sell Franchises. Now that you're in business as a franchisor, one of your most pressing activities will be to find franchisees and convince them to buy your concept. Lillians is unusual in that the company has sold all its franchises by word of mouth and doesn't have a sales representative. To help stimulate interest, the company offers a $1,0. At Solar Universe, Bono says they've hired two in- house salespeople to handle franchise marketing. The company has also entered into a partnership with the national franchise- consulting chain Fran. Net, whose consultants may present the company to their prospects. Other common sales techniques include attending franchise fairs or hiring independent franchise marketing firms to help locate investors. Selling franchises is difficult because of the high risk involved for franchisees, notes Siebert. Your salespeople should know your business well and be able to tell a compelling story about why you're a worth the investment of their time and money. Siebert boils down the issue this way: . Then, quit your job, give up your security and benefits, and go into a business you've never been in before. And follow my rules.' You'll need to establish a pretty high level of trust. But here - at the point where you begin supporting your franchisee network - is where a chain ultimately succeeds or fails. Your training programs and other support efforts will create quality control, notes Siebert, making sure the brand provides a uniform experience no matter which unit customers visit. With the Internet, this has increasingly come to mean providing ongoing online learning modules for franchisees to use. Without ongoing training, it's pretty easy to institutionalize wrong behaviors. Many new franchisors underestimate how much this marketing and support effort will cost, says consultant Libava. Marketing encompasses everything from radio or print ads to uniforms, logos, fliers, and logo art on company vans. Waardenburg syndrome, petrus johannes waardenburg, premature gray hair. Advertisement. Expert: Dr. How rare is waardenburg syndrome two? It is rare, Waardenburg syndrome (WS) is an inherited disorder often characterized by varying degrees of hearing loss and changes in skin and hair pigmentation. The syndrome got its name from a Dutch eye doctor named Petrus Johannes Waardenburg who first noticed that people with differently colored eyes often had a hearing impairment. Scalp Hair Characteristics in the Newborn Infant. Infants with Waardenburg syndrome have a white forelock of hair. Poliosis, also called poliosis circumscripta, is the decrease or absence of melanin (or color) in head hair, eyebrows, eyelashes or any other hairy area. This condition can cause single, or, less commonly, multiple, white. Deafness (more common in type II disease) Extremely pale blue eyes or eye colors that don't match. White patch of hair or early graying of the hair; Less common types of this disease may cause problems with the arms or. He went on to study over a thousand individuals in deaf families and found that some of them had certain physical characteristics in common. One commonly observed characteristic of Waardenburg syndrome is two differently colored eyes. One eye is usually brown and the other blue. Sometimes, one eye has two different colors. Other individuals with Waardenburg syndrome may have unusually brilliant blue eyes. People with WS may also have distinctive hair coloring, such as a patch of white hair or premature gray hair as early as age 1. Other possible physical features include a wide space between the inner corners of eyes called a broad nasal root. In addition persons with WS may have low frontal hairline and their eyebrows may connect. The levels of hearing loss associated with the syndrome can vary from moderate to profound. Individuals with Waardenburg syndrome may have some or all of the traits of the syndrome. For example, a person with WS may have a white forelock, a patch of white hair near the forehead and no hearing impairment. Others may have white patches of skin and severe hearing impairment. The severity of the hearing impairment varies among individuals with WS as do changes in the skin and hair. On rare occasions, WS has been associated with other conditions that are present at birth, such as intestinal disorders, elevation of the shoulder blade, and disorders of the spine. A facial abnormality, known as cleft lip and/or palate, also has been associated with WS. Types of WS There are at least four types of Waardenburg syndrome. The most common types of WS identified by scientists are Type 1 and Type 2. The different types of physical characteristics a person has determines the type of WS. Persons who have an unusually wide space between the inner corners of their eyes have WS Type 1. Hearing impairments occur in about 2. Waardenburg syndrome. Persons who do not have a wide space between the inner corners of their eyes, but who have many other WS characteristics are described as having WS Type 2. About 5. 0 percent of persons with WS Type 2 have a hearing impairment or are deaf. Cause As a genetic disorder, Waardenburg syndrome is passed down from parent to child much like hair color, blood type, or other physical traits. A child receives genetic material from each parent. Because Waardenburg syndrome is a dominant condition, a child usually inherits the syndrome from just one parent who has the malfunctioning WS gene. Actually, there is a 5. WS will also have the syndrome. Research studies Scientists have identified and located four different genes for Waardenburg syndrome: PAX3, MITF, EDNRB, and EDN3. WS type 1 and 3 have been associated with mutations in the PAX3 gene; WS type 2 with the MITF gene; and WS type 4 with the EDNRB and EDN3 genes. Midland Old English Sheepdog Club. Otherwise, white color results from an absence. Specific genes have. Other genes are responsible for the pigment. In dogs the genes for white are the recessive. S) or the dominant allele of the merle gene. M) (Refs. 13,1. 4). In cats the genes are the dominant allele of the white. W) and possibly the recessive piebald gene (S) (Ref 1. In turn. the effects of these genes can be modified by other, as yet unidentified. The S locus in dogs has at least four alleles. The dominant allele S is.
